THE

DESIGN

PROCESS

  • It all begins with an idea. First, we will meet and discuss your needs. I will collect information about you, your project, & the goals you would like to achieve. We'll discuss your lifestyle, family, preferences, & design style for your home. It's very important to me to genuinely get to know you so I can create something exclusively for you.

  • There are 2 key parts of this phase: Conceptual & Development.

    Conceptual:

Next, we will explore ideas and possibilities, by looking at an initial design conceptual presentation with inspiration images. We will discuss how this would apply to your home, which establishes that we are on the same page before developing the design.

Floor plans and a budget are included in this stage, and it’s important to review and approve both prior to moving to the next steps. We will also meet with contractors to obtain bids and begin the process for items such as cabinetry, plumbing, lighting, and appliances, which require more coordination and often have longer lead times.

    Development:

Once the previous steps have been reviewed and approved, we begin developing your full design. This is when NAP Interiors will curate your finish palette, design anything custom, and finalize the exact layout. You'll be able to see and touch the physical finish samples to provide feedback and approvals for everything during the design presentation.

We draw plans & elevations with dimensions to ensure your contractor knows how to bring the design to life. The design package includes the detailed drawings and specifications for every material.

  • Once a design is complete, there are still many steps to ensure you are ready for construction. There is so much is going on behind the scenes.

During this phase, NAP Interiors will invoice you for all items as they are approved and place orders with vendors.

NAP Interiors will also be reviewing and approving shop drawings, providing status updates weekly or as needed, coordinating for construction, updating and issuing final drawings, attending site pre-construction meeting, and preparing furnishing installation day (If required).

  • The Project Management (PM) phase begins after the design package is delivered to you and your GC and is an extremely important element to the best execution of any construction or remodel project.

We work as your advocate during the complex construction/install phase ensuring the design is implemented as envisioned and as you had approved it. Having a designer engaged in PM often saves a client both time and money in the long run by spotting and correcting issues they themselves would have not seen.

  • You move into the space and enjoy! I am available for any additional finishing touches.
